Wedding Photography Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been a photographer?
I qualified with a BA Hons ten whole years ago (wow that sounds like so long) and have always flirted with photography since then. I started working for a photography studio but after going overseas and falling into a happy career as a Wedding and Event Manager I was happy keeping my photography to a hobby. Until last year, I enjoy it too much to not do it as often as I can! Since then I have upgraded all my equipment, refreshed my professional skills, worked with some absolutely awesome, more experienced photographers and basically photographed every chance I have had.
Why are your prices considerably cheaper than other photographers?
I appreciate I am not as experienced as other professionals in my field and my prices reflect this. You wouldn't pay a manager with five years experience the same as an employee with one year of experience in any other industry - so why should it be any different for photography?
Do you have enough experience to photograph my wedding?
I have planned and coordinated over 400 weddings now. Trust me when I say, I know what is coming up next! I am more than just your wedding photographer, I am your little wedding sidekick who just happens to be documenting the day beautifully for you. I know when your emotions are going to kick in, and you will need a quiet moment or a good giggle. I know when the key moments from your day are going to unfold in front of us before you even realise what is happening (that will be the little love bubble you and the other half will be in). And I know what I am doing with a camera, so you really don't need to worry.
What photography equipment do you use?
I use top of the range professional Sony lenses and cameras. These enable me to capture the very best images even in low light situations (I'm looking at you churches).
Can we meet you?
Yes, please! I don't need an excuse to sit and have a good cuppa and some wedding chit chat. I would love to meet with you before the big day. All of my photography packages come with a location visit before the big day which is the perfect opportunity! If the distance is a problem we can always set a skype date.
Will you travel for our wedding?
Hell yes! I love to travel - the UK or overseas I can be there. Just message me for bespoke destination pricing.
Do you offer discounts for out of season or weekday weddings?
Not as standard, no. BUT never say never right? I like to think of my wedding photography packages as a starting point for both of us to work from and see where we end up based on your requirements and the date of your wedding.
What happens if we want to book you?
After we have discussed all the juicy details of your big day and you let me know you are 1000% happy with what we have planned I can send you over a wedding booking agreement and booking fee invoice. Once this has been returned and you've secured with the booking fee we can have as much contact or as little as you want. I can become your wedding bestie, or you can ignore me until 6 weeks before the big day (please don't haha). 6 weeks before I will be in touch with a little wedding questionnaire for you complete and your final invoice. And then a few days before the big day, we will have a catch up on the phone to just make sure all the details I have are still correct and we haven't had any last-minute changes I need to be updated on.
What is your deposit and when is the balance due?
Depending on the total package cost I ask for a non-refundable booking fee of between 15%-20% to secure the date. The remaining balance is due 6 weeks before the wedding date. Or you can pay the remaining balance in monthly instalments - whatever is easiest for you.
How long will I be waiting for my photographs?
OK so you will get a few sneak peeks the same week and then the rest of the images usually around 3 weeks later BUT I do ask you allow up to 6 weeks during busy periods. Especially in busy periods but I always try to get them to you as soon as possible, I know how horrible the wait is.
Have I missed anything?
